UNIT IV

MONEY AND FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS

In this short unit we will examine the history and the various functions of money throughout time and in today’s society. We will then look at how monetary policy is developed and the role of the Federal Reserve in stabilizing the economy. We will also examine how dynamics such inflation and unemployment determine constricting or expanding the economy and the supply of money.
