In sophomore World History, we
will study, analyze, and discuss selected themes and topics concerning historic
world events. The period covered in this class will be from the birth of
democracy in Athens, Greece in 508 B.C. to the present. In this unit, we will
survey the main events that lead to the rise of democracy starting with the
Greeks and then transition into the Romans. We will then examine England’s
developing monarchy and how that affected the power of the people.
